"Baseball America," one of the nation’s most credible sources for intercollegiate baseball news, has picked Faulkner as the No. 5 NAIA team in the country in the latest edition of the publication.
The Eagles, who finished last season 48-15, earned the program's first berth in the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. The combination of a solid core of returners and perhaps one of the strongest recruiting classes in recent memory has caught the eye of the national media. Faulkner is currently No. 8 in the NAIA rankings with a 10-3 overall record and a 2-1 mark after the opening weekend of Southern States Athletic Conference play.
"It's exciting when a national publication with the credibility and reputation of 'Baseball America' thinks your program is one of the best in the country," Faulkner head coach Patrick McCarthy said. "They base the poll on the talent they feel you have on your roster with the help of professional scouts, so that brings more notoriety to our program."
Faulkner is back in action this weekend when it hosts Brewton-Parker in a three-game, SSAC series at Harrison Field. Friday's first game starts at 3 p.m.
