Faulkner University had two players chosen in the recent Major League Baseball draft. Shortstop Austin Adams was selected in the 27th round of the draft by the Milwaukee Brewers, while teammate Kevin Leslie went in the 50th round to the Cincinnati Reds.

"It's an exciting time for our program - this is the first year we've ever had two players selected,'' Eagles head coach Brent Barker said. "There are so many good players out there and it means a lot to have players drafted. I'm thrilled for both Austin and Kevin, and their families. Both of them have meant a lot to our program and, if they choose to sign, we wish them all the best.''

Both Adams and Leslie are juniors, and have one more year of eligibility at Faulkner. Adams, from Millbrook, Ala., batted .398 with 49 RBIs and 11 home runs in the 2008 season. Adams also served as a closer for the Eagles and finished the year with 12 saves. Leslie, from Stone Mountain, Ga., was a second team NAIA All-American selection after hitting .403 with 14 doubles, 17 home runs, 50 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. He also excelled in the field, going the entire season without committing an error.
