Faulkner hosted the University of Mobile in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Harrison field. The Eagles took game one in extended innings 12-11, but couldn’t rally in the nightcap and dropped the contest 7-4.

    The teams traded runs early in the opener. The Rams took control with a two-run homer in the second inning. Kevin Leslie delivered a two-run shot for the Eagles to tie the game in the third and Mobile hit another two-run blast in the fourth.

    After the Rams put up another run in the top of the sixth, Faulkner took over knocking in five runs, including a two-run homer by Austin Adams, for the 10-5 lead.

    A sure thing quickly turned sour for the Eagles however, as the Rams answered with five runs in the top of the seventh. The home team was unable to produce in their final at bat, sending the event into extra innings.

    Mobile rocked a solo homer in the eighth to claim the lead before Cody Bridgman hit a run-scoring single to keep the Eagles alive.

    Faulkner left the bases loaded for two consecutive innings before finally gaining the upper hand in the bottom of the ninth. After hitting a leadoff triple, Leslie scored on a single courtesy of Darius English.

    Roberto Ferguson started on the mound for the Eagles in game one and gave up only two earned runs over three innings. Daniel Esparza got credit for the win allowing only a single earned run in his closing effort.

    Leslie was a perfect 3-for-3 in the game with a pair of RBIs and three scored runs. Adams finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two scored runs. David Holcombe and Jose Morillo were both 3-for-5 and English was 1-for-1 with the game-winning RBI.

    The teams traded home runs again in game two. The Rams struck first with a solo shot in the top of the second. Faulkner countered with a homet by Michael Colley in the bottom of the same inning. Mobile produced another home run to start the third and never looked back in route to the victory.

    Winston Stone had a strong showing for the Eagles in game two going 3-for-4 with a two-run blast in the bottom of the seventh. Coley finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and Josh Lock was 1-for-1 with an RBI.

    Mitch Whatley gave up eight hits and four earned runs over four innings in the loss.

    Faulkner (20-12, 6-4 SSAC) will take on Columbus State on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a nine-inning event in Columbus, Ga.
