February 24

MOBILE - Michael Colley hit a pair of home runs including a grand slam as Faulkner split a doubleheader with Mobile in college baseball action here Tuesday afternoon. Colley's heroics lifted Faulkner to a 13-6 victory in game 1, with the Rams displaying some power of their own to win the nightcap 7-6.

In the first game the Eagles were down 5-4 in the top of the sixth when Colley smashed his first grand slam of the year. An inning later his two-run shot padded the lead. Later in the same inning Austin Adams added a two-run homer of his own as the Eagles broke the game open.

Mike Zenko earned the win with two innings of work in relief of starter Mitch Whatley.

The Rams (9-6) grabbed control of game 2 on the strength of Brad Sheffield's two-run homer in the fourth inning. Faulkner reliever Roberto Ferguson, gave up the blast that broke a 4-4 tie. Trailing 7-4 in its last at-bat, Faulkner cut the deficit to one on Winston Stone's two-run double. With two outs and the tying run on second, Colley's sharp grounder to short resulted in the final out.

The Eagles (8-7) open Southern States Athletic Conference action this weekend at Reinhardt.
