Faulkner leads BASS Super Regional
March 7
EVANS, Ga. – Faulkner's Kyle Tindol and Michael Eubanks are atop the leaderboard after Day One of the College Bass East Super Regional on Clarks Hill Lake.
The Eagles' duo was one of only seven teams in the field of 39 to weigh in a limit on the first day and had a leading weight of 11.19 pounds.
Close behind them in second was a perennial contender, Eastern Kentucky University’s Tyler Moberly and Richard Cobb with a weight of 10.55 pounds. In third place was former Under Armour College Bass National Champion Virginia Tech. Scott Wiley, a member of the winning team in 2007, and his new teammate Wyatt Blevins posted 10.25 pounds on the day.
Rounding out the top five after Day One was Georgia Southern University’s Seth Cannon and David Mesplay and Georgia College & State University’s Matt Henry and Zach Olson, in fourth and fifth place respectively with weights of 10.11 pounds and 10.09 pounds.
The leaders from Faulkner found fishing tougher than practice, but still managed to pull out a limit from their primary area, even surrounded by local tournament anglers.
“We are competing against a lot of locals in our area,” Eubanks said. “It was pretty crowded, but the area has a lot of good fish. Kyle caught a 9-pound bass there in practice so we know what the spot is capable of.”
The two anglers had never fished Clarks Hill before and only spent two days practicing, but found one sweet spot the size of a football field that they were able to milk all day long.
“I don’t know what the weather will be like tomorrow,” Tindol said. “If we can get some clouds to move in and out, we can really catch them. It seemed that in practice, the few times clouds rolled through was when the bite picked up.”

Faulkner looks to bring home bass fishing national title
September 8, 2008
The Faulkner University bass team, fresh off a third-place finish in the Under Armour College Bass National Championships in Little Rock, Ark., earlier this summer, will compete in the 2008 National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship Sept. 18-20 on Lake Lewisville near Dallas, Texas.
Faulkner will have a pair of two-man teams in the event, with John Galloway and Justin Barnes forming one and Kyle Tindol and Michael Eubanks the other. There will be 106 two-person teams representing 57 schools from 23 states competing. The full-field enrollment makes it the largest college bass tournament ever held.
Faulkner will be competing against traditional Division I powerhouses from the Big 12, SEC, Pac-10 and the Big East. A team from North Carolina State won the inaugural event in 2006. Last year’s winner was from Texas A&M.
All teams are fishing for the more than $35,000 in scholarships and prizes.
