M. B. Myers was well known for his love for music and for teaching young people to enjoy music. The building was built in 1982 and in 2002 it was remodeled to more aesthetically and practically serve Faulkner.
Originally built in 1977 as a student center and then converted into a music and theatre building in 1982, the M. B. "Pop" Myers Fine Arts Center underwent a massive $650,000 renovation in 2002, adding much needed classroom space, a choral hall, a new lobby, and a renovated theatre auditorium. The building now has 14,832 square feet of space and is valued at about a million and a half dollars.
This building is home to the Great Books, Music, and Theatre programs under the English and Fine Arts Department of the College of Arts and Sciences. Since 1987, it has also been the home of the critically acclaimed Faulkner University Dinner Theatre, a favorite Montgomery site enjoyed by tourists and locals alike and the only regularly scheduled dinner theater in the capital city of Montgomery. Music practice rooms, faculty offices for Great Books, Music, and Theatre, and the Dinner Theatre box office are also located in this building.
