Preachers Challenge reaches $1M mark
The Preachers Challenge has reached the $1,000,000 mark in donations according to Ed Walker, assistant vice president for development. The Preachers Challenge is an ongoing fundraiser benefitting Faulkner University's V.P. Black College of Biblical Studies. Each year, preachers are challenged to donate or raise $1,000 or more to the College, and these donations assist in Bible instruction for all students.
V.P. Black, a well-known minister from Montgomery, Ala., initiated the Preachers Challenge in 1993 when he donated the revenue from two speaking engagements to the training of aspiring preachers studying at Faulkner University. He then challenged other preachers and leaders to join him.
A donation from Beattie Road church in Albany, Ga., pushed the Challenge beyond the million-dollar mark, but the challenge continues. "Brother Black would be shouting, 'Hallelujah! Now let's get working on two million!'" Walker lightheartedly surmises.
