How do I apply to the MLA Program?
There are three ways you can apply for the Master's of Liberal Arts Degree:
- Contact the Master's of Liberal Arts program director and receive an application form and packet,
- Apply on line, or
- Download the PDF forms and mail them to: Faulkner University, Attention: Michael Young, 5345 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36109.
What are the requirements for admission into the program?
The requirements for admission to the MLA program are, briefly:
- An earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution;
- A minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (work experience considered);
- A GRE combined verbal and analytical total of at least 1000;
- A TOEFL score of at least 500 (applicable only to students for whom English is not their primary language);
- A completed, application form;
- Official transcripts from all institutions previously attended; and
- A 300 word essay describing why you want to pursue the MLA degree.
While these requirements must be met for normal admission to the program, the university also recognizes the exceptional situation which considers the classification of conditional admission. Inquiries about conditional admission should be sent to the program director.
Are there any scholarships available?
The MLA Program does offer some scholarship money to students currently enrolled in the program who have taken at least two courses and have an outstanding academic record. You may contact the program director for an application form. You should also check with your employer to see if funding for education is available. The MLA office would be glad to send materials to an employer defining the nature and possible benefits of the program for your career goals.
