master of arts in biblical studies

An Invitation from the President Christians in the 21st century face tremendous moral and intellectual challenges. The sheer distance in time and space between the origins of Christianity and our contemporary world makes understanding and applying the biblical text to our times a challenging task.

Faulkner University seeks to serve its students by helping them to emulate Christ in attitude and behavior and to master knowledge and skills appropriate to Christian servants. We offer the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies as the capstone of our efforts to discover and to communicate the knowledge of God’s Word.

I invite you to investigate this challenging program in light of your need for mature Bible knowledge and understanding. Please consider making your preparation for Christian service in the 21st century with us at Faulkner University’s V. P. Black College of Biblical Studies.

Billy D. Hilyer
President of Faulkner University

An Invitation from the Dean Learning is a life long task. One who quits learning has quit growing. While formal schooling is not the only means of continued growth in knowledge, it is one of the most expedient and effective ways.

Preachers who attend graduate Bible classes do not take valuable time away from their work. They enhance their work. Sermon and class ideas from the classes are shared with the congregation. They keep up with current ideas and movements in the religious world and stay relevant and fresh.

The best sermons and classes come from those who have filled their minds and hearts with the word of God so that it overflows, and filling whatever topic or lessons they are preparing and presenting.

Classes in the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies program at Faulkner University will help you fill your cup. Join us in a joyful pursuit of knowledge of the truth.

Cecil May, Jr.
Dean, V. P. Black College of Biblical Studies

Program Introduction The V. P. Black College of Biblical Studies serves the students of Faulkner University as a whole (each full-time student takes a course in the College of Biblical Studies each semester), but it also provides specific preparation for preachers and teachers, elders and deacons, missionaries, youth ministers and other church workers. The Master of Arts in Biblical Studies is the capstone of Faulkner University’s efforts to effectively prepare students to discover and to communicate to others the knowledge of God’s Word.

With a strong Biblical core and a variety of major tracks, the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies provides both sound preparation for more effective service in the church and a broad base for further training if the student wishes to specialize in more advanced graduate study.
