ENGLISH COMPOSITION II

English Composition II is the second half of core composition required by Faulkner. The emphasis here is argument. Of the argument types available, this class features the Toulmin method, a model developed by British philosopher Stephen Toulmin that divides argument into four major components. Students will write a total of four major papers that proceed according to the stasis theory and then a research paper (which will adhere to the 10 - 15 page, 5 source policy). Each paper will also utilize the MLA style guide. This class is a portfolio class, a project that is worth 50% of the student's final grade.
