ENGLISH COMPOSITION I
English Composition is the first half of core composition required Faulkner. The class is designed to bridge the gap between what students are typically asked to write in high school and the type of academic writing they'll be expected to perform as students of higher education. This particular class focuses heavily on analysis, providing a formalistic approach to composition that will benefit the student when it comes to one's personal contribution to dialogue within his or her major field of study. Students will be asked to write a total of six major papers varying in length and purpose, culminating in a short research project that will serve as a precursor to argument in English Composition II. The class is designed around a portfolio, which was will 60% each student's grade at the end of the semester.
