Graduation Requirements

To receive the Baccalaureate degree in education the following requirements are in effect:
- Candidacy and admission into the Teacher Education Program (a minimum of two semesters prior to the internship).
- Completion of all courses and requirements listed on the appropriate degree plan (including an appropriate internship).
- Completion of Alabama State Department of Education Teacher Certification requirements, including a passing score on the Alabama Prospective Teacher Test, and appropriate paperwork (including fingerprinting and background check release forms). The Alabama State Department of Education will require passing scores on the Praxis II, as well as the APTT, beginning in the Spring, 2006.
- 1000 hours of clinical observation must be achieved before graduation.
- Prospective graduates must sit for the Praxis II test appropriate for their professional education preparation and for the selected teaching field prior to the Internship.
- Completion of all institutional requirements for graduation, i.e. filing of appropriate forms with Registrar's Office, exit interview with Financial Aid Office, if required, and clearance with Business Office.
All education degree programs currently require either one or two semesters of foreign language. Achieving a passing score on the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) will meet the foreign language requirement.
