Application and Admission
Applications for admission into the Teacher Education Program and the Internship will be accepted once each Fall and Spring semester. Applications will not be accepted, or may be held until the following semester, if all criteria listed on the application are not met. Timelines for application are as follows:
For Fall Semester: (If you plan on completing your Internship in the Spring, follow this schedule.)
- All applications for admission into the Teacher Education Program and the Internship are due on the 2nd Friday of September.
- Interviews for both groups of applicants with the Department of Education Chair and one other faculty member will be during the 3rd week of October.
- The Teacher Education Committee will meet to hold the Question & Answer Session for Internship applicants, and review all submitted applications for admission into the Teacher Education Program during the 1st week of November.
- Letters will be mailed to all applicants regarding admission status on the Friday after the Teacher Education Committee meeting.
- Depending on the school system, Intern candidates will be told their placement assignments during the week of finals.
For Spring Semester: (If you plan on completing your Internship in the Fall, follow this schedule.)
- All applications for admission into the Teacher Education Program and the Internship are due on the 2nd Friday of February.
- Interviews for both groups of applicants with the Department of Education Chair and one other faculty member will be during the week immediately following Spring Break.
- The Teacher Education Committee will meet to hold the Question & Answer Session for Internship applicants, and review all submitted applications for admission into the Teacher Education Program during the 2nd week of April.
- Letters will be mailed to all applicants regarding admission status on the Friday after the Teacher Education Committee meeting.
- Depending on the school system, Intern candidates will be told their placement assignments during the week of finals.
This timeline is based upon submission deadlines for the Elmore County and Montgomery Public School Systems. Due to early submission deadlines of other surrounding counties, if an Intern wishes to complete their Internship in another county, the application for the Internship needs to be completed one year in advance of the requested semester for the Internship.
