Alpha Delta Iota Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi

Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education for which membership is limited to education majors who exhibit the ideals of scholarship, high personal standards, promise in the teaching profession, and whose grade point average is in the top twenty percent. Founded in 1911, formers of Kappa Delta Pi include Albert Einstein, John Dewey, Margaret Meade, Eleanor Roosevelt, and George Washington Carver.
Faulkner University's Alpha Delta Iota Chapter was born On October 7, 2007 with the initiation of 26 new members, including university teachers/administrators, and both undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Nathan Bond, Vice President of Kappa Delta Pi and Education Professor at Texas State University, came to Montgomery to initiate its charter members and officially present the charter to Dr. Billy Hilyer, University President, and Dr. Claudia Nisbett, Chair of the Education Department. Alyssa Wilson, an elementary education major from Carrollton, Georgia, was the Chapter's first president.

Each year invitations are extended to those who meet the organization's standards. Kappa Delta Pi provides an additional opportunity for Faulkner University education majors to demonstrate their concern for excellence, strengthen the overall academic program, and provide evidence of the continued growth in the quality of the Teacher Education Program.
